Hello!
I am currently a senior at Michigan State University about to graduate in May. I will be earning my Human Capital & Society degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in Social Sciences with a Psychology Cognate and a Business Emphasis.
While studying human capital I have taken not only business courses but psychology and sociology courses also. This has taught me more than just the business end of human resources and management. I have learned about the people themselves, how where they come from and who they are will affect how they see the world. With my business emphasis I have taken additional classes to understand different business aspects. My psychology cognate is achieved by numerous psychology classes to better understand the mind. The final classes I am taking in my senior year will build on this knowledge and help mold these three areas together more completely.
I hope to gain the skills needed to be able to hire people into jobs that are good fits for them, not only on the level of their job skills, but also on the level of a good personal fit in the work environment. I believe in order for people to enjoy their jobs and to perform them the best they can, employees need to mesh well with each other. I hope to be able to create these teams. Along with school work, I hope to gain some insight into how teams work well together by volunteering at Sparrow Hospital. Hospitals are fast paced environments where everyone needs to work together to save lives, team work in this environment is crucial.
